The portfolio concept

Christian Scholz has been presenting his work in the form of portfolios, arranged thematically, since 1999. For example, on individual artists and architects, entrepreneurs and authors; but also in groups, for example Swiss art collectors, Swiss artists, Cinema people, Basel’s celebrities, Zurich’s celebrities. Or individual families. A very early tamplate was even edited in 1966 and is today one of the rarest first editions of this kind („Zurcher Mappe“).

His portfolio format received particularly high praise in the legendary 99 Portraits project (Switzerland 2012–2014, in 9 portfolios) and in the project Cinema people (Switzerland 2018). Just recently two complete editions were acquired, one by a public collection in Zurich and one in Lausanne by the Cinémathèque Suisse. More recent, continuing projects are also available in the form of portfolios, e.g. the recent "Herzog&deMeuron" as well as "Femmes de Suisse" and "Jewish Portraits". In planning 2023: "In the face of the Highlands".

The portfolios provide durable protection. They are made with acid-free materials and are hand-produced in a tried and tested manner; the exterior is of embossed bookbinding linen; the gelatin silver prints are protected with interleaving paper, and forms detailing the production, paper grade and format are included.

Each portfolio always bears reference to the corpus as a whole.
